Short version: FilmFest is a free, independent festival companion. Use it kindly, don’t post counts you didn’t see, and always check tiff.net before you buy a ticket.
FilmFest is an independent app and website for following a film festival: the programme, your schedule, your diary, the shared rush board and the audience vote. It is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by the Toronto International Film Festival Inc., and nothing here comes from the festival.
By using the website at filmfestapp.com or the FilmFest iOS app you agree to what is on this page. If you don’t, please don’t use them. You need to be 13 or older.
An account is optional. Everything except syncing and voting works without one. You can sign in with Google, Apple or Reddit, and we never see or store a password — your provider handles that. What we do store is set out in the privacy policy.
The programme is captured from tiff.net on the date printed in the footer, and festivals move things. Times, venues and cancellations can be wrong or out of date. Always confirm on tiff.net before buying a ticket or travelling to a screening. FilmFest sells nothing and cannot get you into a screening.
Rush counts, line positions and outcomes are posted by other people, not by the venue. They are guesses shared in good faith and are often wrong. Treat them as a hint, never as a promise of a seat. When you post:
We rate-limit posting and keep a one-way hash of your IP address so one person cannot flood a line. Counts drop off the map after twelve hours.
One pick per category per account, changeable until the festival ends. It is a bit of fun and has nothing to do with any award the festival gives. Don’t make extra accounts to vote more than once; we remove votes that look manufactured, and the accounts behind them.
Your diary entries, ratings, reviews, ranking and rush posts belong to you. You give us permission to store them and to show them back to you, and — only for the things that are plainly shared, like rush counts and vote tallies — to show them to other people using FilmFest. We don’t sell them, publish them elsewhere, or use them for advertising or to train AI models.
Don’t post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, or that isn’t yours to post. We can remove content and close accounts that break this, usually without warning where the rush board is being gamed.
Please don’t scrape the site, hammer the API, try to break the rate limits, reverse the IP hashes, or use FilmFest to build a competing dataset. Normal personal use is welcome, including saving and sharing your own story images.
Film data and posters come from TMDB; this product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Programme information comes from tiff.net. Letterboxd links are a convenience and FilmFest is not affiliated with or endorsed by Letterboxd. Posters, stills and titles belong to their owners and are shown to identify the films.
FilmFest costs nothing and there is no subscription. It is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and we don’t promise it will be available, accurate, or free of mistakes. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything that follows from using it — a screening missed, a rush line joined, a ticket not bought. Some places don’t allow these exclusions, and where that is so, they don’t apply to you.
You can stop at any time: delete the app, or ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we may change or retire features — including the whole service — as the festival ends and the next one begins.
If these terms change we will update this page and the date below. Carrying on using FilmFest after that means accepting the new version. Last updated 20 September 2026.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
